Why I chose the Galaxy UK Pageant?

  • What it stands for? 'Galaxy Pageants UK' unites countries from around the world in the glamorous world of beauty, elegance and poise, whilst making friendships across the globe It is the only UK pageant company which gives you access to compete in the international Galaxy pageant welcoming women of all sizes, ages, ethnicity, marital status and those new to the pageant world or experienced. Galaxy finalists promote their local home towns/Cities by attending/supporting/fundraising for local charities and giving back to their hometown. Galaxy UK raises continued fund for The Christie Charity and each finalist is encouraged to undertake activities/challenges/host events etc to raise funds towards the charity. Galaxy UK crowns 5 winners at their finalists pageant who are jetted off to America to compete in the International Galaxy pageant, as well as winning a number of other lovely prizes. The opportunities are endless.

  • A bit about the competition . At the finals for Galaxy UK, held at the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire, the finalists will compete in 4 rounds to be judged by a select panel. These rounds include: interview, swimwear, partywear and evening wear.

  • Why I entered?: I was sent the opportunity to enter the selection round via an online agency I have been signed up to since my late teens and would have previously not considered applying for such a glamorous event. Mostly due to lack of confidence and the contestants are just so beautiful.

When I was younger, I became quite ill with an eating disorder and became extremely thin. Luckily, from family and doctor intervention, I became stronger and healthier. Later in life, I received diagnosis of an under-active thyroid and wondered why I had to battle so hard to lose weight!! How things can flip! I put on a fair bit of weight and became quite conscious about how I looked. I often changed my style of clothing, my hair etc to try and hide behind it all. I was an active gym member although it felt like a losing battle. Having received the right help to counteract this, and by joining Slimming World, I have completely changed my lifestyle. I'm a much healthier person, try to keep fit in my child-free time and am pleased to say I have successfully lost over 3 stone. (4 if we include my pregnancy weight!!)

However, my personal circumstances have taken a change this year and I have become a single Mum and with this and the new figure, I have found a new sense of self confidence. I feel stronger, I'm healthier, I have vision, I have confidence.....I have a reason to be the best person I can be! Having considered the pageant, what is involved and the journey with Galaxy, I thought I'd enter, not thinking I'd have a chance of being selected to attend the finals. So when I had a notification to advise my application was being put forward to the judging panel I couldn't believe what I was reading, furthermore I later received notification the judges had decided I'd made it to the finals. I was ecstatic. A thousand thoughts racing through my mid, the opportunities that I could utilise via the pageant lead up. I have spent a large amount of my time coordinating, recruiting volunteers and attending charitable events and am excited to be able to further this in my hometown and to promote Galaxy UK, myself and provide an awareness for local charities to the public. I feel so honoured to be in a position where I have more substance to help make a difference and am looking forward to the future being the best version of me and the best role model I can be to my little boy!

Don't ever lose hope of your dreams. Don't ever doubt yourself! Be the best version of you that you can be. You deserve it. x
